GFE offers a wide range of programs, developed by members and GFE staff.

  • Study groups are ongoing networks of members who study and discuss a topic of common interest. They are initiated and led by members and open to all GFE members.
  • Member briefings are one-time, one-day sessions designed by members around topics of interest. To be sponsored by GFE, three or more members must initiate a briefing.
  • GFE briefings are one-time, one-to-two-day sessions designed by GFE staff and members around key topics that are of interest to members. This is a new program offering that will debut in 2003.
  • GFE organizes several workshops at conferences each year, providing a special track of programs focused on education funders' interests.
  • GFE's annual conference is the nation's only conference dedicated to education philanthropy. Sessions are designed to enrich funders' understanding of education issues and sharpen their craft as grantmakers.
  • The Education Grantmakers Institute is a one-of-a-kind learning opportunity offered every other year. Based at a leading university, this seminar explores a topic in depth using case studies and discussion with faculty. Enrollment is limited to enhance opportunities for discussion.
